Introduction. The Original 14 Day Fire Sale
Greetings. Welcome to the original 14-day fire sale challenge. What we’re going to try to achieve here is something that to my knowledge has never been done before. I’m going to take a blank white sheet of paper, and in just 60 days, turn it into a fully-fledged fire sale with a view to taking $100,000 worth of sales on launch week. There are a few catches of course. The first is, as the title suggests, I’ve given myself only 14 days to complete the challenge and launch which I’m convinced isn’t even possible. It should be fun to try though. The second catch is that as I create this sale, I’m going to be noting down everything I do here. If you like, it’s going to turn into the ultimate step by step. Something that should you decide to follow, will fill in all the gaps and give you all the information and techniques that I’m going to use in a step by step format.
My business and the way I work has always been about efficiency, speed and quality. If it’s not the best, done quicker than anybody, look better than anybody else’s, offer more value than anyone else, it never makes it to a website with a price tag, and is doomed to rot probably forever in my scrapped project folders until it can be taken over the threshold. What you’ll see though is what I’m about to attempt is a tall order. Due to the nature of this type of sale, the amount of work involved is immense. On that note, I don’t recommend that you follow along on a daily basis unless you’re prepared for a wake up, work then sleep experience with only breaks for food.
Of course everything you’re about to read works whether you do in 14 days or 140 days, but I really want to demonstrate that money can be made very quickly online with a little effort. A more realistic variation on this experiment would be the original 90-day fire sale. It may even turn into that, who knows? A timed diary is new territory for me too, so anything could happen.
I’m going to fly through each section real quickly, to the tune of around ten pages per day, point after point, so keep up if you can, and let’s get creating a high impact, high earning, high quality fire sale in at speed.
What is a Fire Sale?
For those of you who don’t know what a Fire Sale is, I’m going to give you a quick rundown. A fire sale is a single page website, usually with a members area packed full of products that attempts to sell, not just one, but many products to the same target market at the same time on a time limited basis.
The products themselves are all loosely connected, for example, our last sale consisted of 14 high quality documents relating to different areas of online marketing, from joint ventures, to sales letters, frequently asked questions, pricing strategies and so on and so forth. Ten to fifteen products in the same sale seem to be the norm. The great thing about the products is that often, they’re imaginatively created and presented in different and interesting ways. For example, you may have a third of your products taken up by e-books, a third taken up by audio and another third taken up by scripts and programs, all with the intention of putting together a large product package aimed at the same group of people.
In addition to the products themselves, there’s another catch to the fire sale. We’re not just selling to people who want to use the products themselves (although a good number of them tend to go that route) but we’re also creating a business around each product. The idea is, someone comes along, grabs the products, and from the moment they download, they have a sales letter, sales material, website, graphics and the product itself. All they need to do to launch and sell the product is upload everything and hook up a payment processor. Of course all the products themselves come with full rights, allowing all buyers to go and sell not just the product, but complete rights to the product if they want, allowing them to charge a much higher price than for the product on it’s own.
Already we have two separate groups of people we’re selling to. Those who want to use the products, and those who want the products to increase the product lines of their businesses, ultimately, giving them a wider variety of items to fill their virtual shelves with.
That’s not all though. A fire sale is often a very short-term affair. Usually, due to the nature of the products and the fact that people will be re-selling the packages, rarely are more than 500 copies offered for sale. This protects the value of the products nicely, so you won’t find five thousand people all fighting to flog the same products. Don’t be fooled by the low numbers though, 500 sales at $197 is $98,500 in your pocket. You can also increase this by over 50% through one-time offers during your sales process. In our last sale, we had a 50% upgrade rate, which would take your total sales up closer to the $150,000 mark.
There’s more though. It’s all very nice talking about so much cash changing hands, but what’s even more staggering is the timeframe that this all takes place inside. Generally, a fire sale has three sales prices; one for the first week, one for the second week, and finally one for the third week. Each time, the price goes up. For example, our last sale began at $197 and then moved to $247. It would have ended on $297. It sold out before then, but you get the idea.
Next comes the payment process. Very often a fire sale will have split payments, or split commissions. The idea of such a system is that when one of your joint venture partners refers a member, the money lands straight in their account. No waiting, no check sending, no calculations done on the part of the program owner. This is a great incentive for promotion. It’s hassle free for all parties involved, and what’s probably the quickest way that commissions can ever be paid.
Finally, the last and probably most important aspect of the fire sale is its exclusiveness. You won’t find any links to sign up as an affiliate outside of the member’s area where the product downloads are created. The fire sale is an exclusive club that on the privileged are allowed to join and promote. And here lies the key. The promoters aren’t just plain affiliates, they’re joint venture partners, simply because an affiliate sounds so common nowadays. It’s not exclusive at all, it’s more like a ‘yeah whatever, promote this program to earn money’. JV partners on the other hand get access first, they have to give something in return, and ultimately are part of a very exclusive club of owners of the product and promoters of the product that only special invitees and purchasers belong to. This might not sound all that exclusive to you, and just an affiliate under a different a name, but all in all, when there’s only 500 copies of a product going to be sold in less than three weeks, with potential $200,000+ changing hands over that period, you want to be a part of it. That’s why fire sale affiliates more as JV partners..
So there we have it. Sounds like a lot of work for 14 days. Just in case you’re still thinking of following along with me at this point, I want to give you an idea of what we’re both going to have to create over the next two weeks to complete the 14 day challenge
10-15 completely originally written products (possibly ending up as multimedia or other incarnations of products) (100-400 pages each)
10-15 completely original scripts if you choose to go that route, including a reliable freelance programmer to meet the deadline
An additional fully-fledged product, website, graphics and sales material to sell as a one time offer on the backend.
One sales letter for each of the 10-15 products so that purchasers can sell with minimum hassle on their part the moment they lay their hands on the download.
One website layout and design, complete with individual graphics for each and every product, including sales material, such as boxes, website headers and website footer graphics.

So there we have it. That’s even before we look at software to run the whole show, the joint ventures, promotion material, ads, testimonials and more. Sure I could throw together 14 crap products in a day or two, but remember, we’re aiming for something really special for our customers here, as we should be with all our products. In this case 100% originally written and created, never seen before, only available here for a limited amount of time products. Most importantly at no time can quality be sacrificed. Just these factors alone begin to make the products exclusive and desirable before we even get to the planning stages.
My rules and regulations
The first thing I’d like to say is if you’re on a limited budget, don’t worry. What I’m about to attempt here contains all the information that you’ve just read above, completely original graphics, text and the like, but with a small budget. I’m going to limit myself to $800 for scripts and programming, $50 for the hosting of the site and $200 for image purchases. A grand total of $1050 and while that may sound like a lot, I’ll only be using that $800 if we go the scripts and programs route. If there are no scripts and programs, the budget will be $250.
Secondly, I’m not going to cheat. I’m sure if I wanted, this could be outsourced to twenty other people each writing little bits of the course here and there while I sit back and relax. That however, costs money and more importantly, quality. I want to maximize the profit made on this project so outsourcing is going to be kept to things I can’t do myself. Only scripting. I also want to maximize the quality. The only way to assure quality is to do all the writing myself, and not hire ghostwriters and the like, who tend to be rather expensive anyway.
Finally, fourteen days means fourteen days. When I talk to you throughout the course, I’m going to be giving you dates, times and showing you what progress I’ve made. No dates will be artificially doctored, although I fully expect the 14 days thing to change due to the number of tasks that need to be completed, and the standard they need to be completed to. So if you’re reading a title that says more than 14 days, and wondering why I’m talking about just 14 days, then something happened further down the line.
What bits you’ll see, what bits you won’t see
My ultimate aim here is to show you what can be achieved in a short space of time. What you will see and hear about is the closest thing I can get to a step by step guide. Short of sitting next to you and telling you which keys to press on your keyboard, this is it. I could of course record myself doing this, but in the end, you’d pretty much have fourteen days of me sitting in a chair typing away, with no time to talk. That would be pretty boring to say the least, and I’d no doubt fail the challenge if attempting to do things that way.
The way this course is going to be set out is in three main sections. The first is a daily account of what needs to go into that particular day/date. We’ll be starting with planning for example on day one, product creation on day two, all the way through to joint ventures and launch during the final days. I’m going to try and keep it as neat as possible with the knowledge base, but what may end up happening is that I have a bunch of work to do one day, but not much to talk about because it’ll all have been written about the previous day. This is especially true when looking at creating the products in text format. I’ll do my best to keep things interesting though. What’s more, if there isn’t any knowledge base for me to give you on a specific day, it’s not all that bad, because you’ll still have the diary entries.
During my diary entry sections that come every day right after the knowledge base, you’ll be able to read about my trials and tribulations as the sale is being created. For example, what problems come up, and how they’re solved. You might also get hints of frustration, pressures and the like that I have no doubt will happen. Let’s face it, when you have a strict deadline, when do things ever go to plan? That’s something I accept in advance.
Additionally, you’ll be hearing about how I interact with my programmer if I choose to use one, how I plan the projects and present them to him. You might even get to see some amusing e-mails when it comes down to promotion, as there are always without a doubt some of them that come back to me. All in all though, the diary section is a more personal look at how things are going, rather than me just babbling on about what you should do and what you shouldn’t do. You’ll actually get to see it in action first hand. If you’ve never really had an insight into a fully functioning online business before and have been curious in the past to see if things are as peachy as they seem on the outside (and believe me they’re not) you’ll get one now.
Topics we’ll discuss and the approach
I think it’s important before we move on that I give you a real insight into what we’re trying to achieve here and show that it really is real. Here’s what I plan to do for you. First up, comes the introduction, which is what you’re reading now. Next, when you’re done here, we’ll move on to day one of the sale. I’ll give you some knowledgebase information that will help you with your sale. I’ll then make my diary entry talking about how I take the information in the knowledge base and apply it to my business in a practical sense. This will be repeated throughout the fourteen days. Each section will also be dated so you know exactly when this is taking place.
Finally, will come results week. This is where the fun comes, because what you’re reading now is actually going to be a product in the final fire sale, so not only does this have to be finished by launch, but the other products do too. The results week PDF will be uploaded to the member’s area after seven days of the fire sale have passed at the lowest price. That’s the plan at this stage anyway, who knows what might change?
We need to have taken around $50,000 in sales by this point to be on target for the $100,000 of sales mark. If it goes pear shaped, I’m going to be in deep trouble, because my customers will be expecting the results of the challenge to attach to the book so they can use it themselves to create their own sites and sales. If I can’t give them that, there’s going to be hell to pay, not to mention if we fail, I’m going to look pretty stupid. No pressure then. I can see already this is going to be a lot of fun.

Take Heed & Final Notes
Pay close attention, because I have a couple of final notes for you. First up, it’s really important to me that your first fire sale goes well, which is why I need to re-iterate right now as a sort of disclaimer that what I’m doing here is just to demonstrate how quickly such a sale can be created and successfully launched. I’ve done this before (although admittedly, not in such a short space of time, 18 times longer for the previous sale in fact).
I want you to understand this now, because if you’re following along, and you have a full time job, or kids to look after, this may not be possible. And if it is possible, you may end up lacking in quality or paying through the nose for outsourcing. If you fall into either of those categories, I’d suggest using 90 days if you want a challenge, not because you’re not capable, but because you have other commitments, whereas I do this full time and have done for many years.
What that doesn’t mean however, is that you can’t achieve the same results. I want to re-iterate. Everything that’s about to happen, you will know about. If my programmer bails on me at day 13, you’ll hear about it. If I make ten mill on the stock market and decide to go on vacation and celebrate instead and put this off until I get back, you’ll hear about it. There should be no reason at all why you can’t replicate the results. I repeat for the final time:
